Keep your outdoor fixture bulbs corrosion free

There is nothing worse than attempting to change a light bulb in an outdoor fixture only to discover the base of the bulb has corroded and is now stuck in the socket.  This is a common problem when fixtures are located near salt water.  Here's a trick that can save you hours of time and effort.  When installing bulbs, coat the base and socket with a thin layer of petroleum jelly.  This greatly slows the oxidation process so that the next time you change the bulb, it unscrews easily.  A little preventive maintenance now can save hours of headaches later.
